Thanks to many generous donations, St. Catherine School has a technology infrastructure that will support state of the art innovations. We have a fiberoptic backbone which allows the fastest possible communication between switches. Each classroom is equipped with a teacher computer and a data projector as well as a minimum of one student computer. The school also has a wireless environment which allows internet connection of student mobile devices. All classrooms have Smartboards, access to Smart Technology and have Smart Airliners which allow wireless control of onscreen data.
Kinder through 3rd have computer centers in their classrooms. Sixth and seventh grades have scheduled computer classes while all other grades have access to the computer lab on a sign-up basis. The computer lab is equipped with a Smart Board and all laptops in the lab have wireless access. Students learn keyboarding to touch, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Additionally, students have access to Animoto, Prezzi and other presentation applications as well as a full range of research options.
Students who do not have computers or internet access at home or who are experiencing temporary limitations are allowed to use the computer lab after school to print, complete assignments or use the internet for research etc. Students needing to use the computer lab after school must receive permission and must sign in and out. Students who use the computer lab without permission or without documenting their time will be subject to disciplinary measures.
